Transportation & Maps:
If you are booking a tour of Juneau, the following companies visit us on their excursions:
From Downtown: We are conveniently located just 3 miles from downtown Juneau (where the cruise ships dock). Taxi service is available from any location and many hotels offer complimentary shuttle service. If you have your own vehicle, head north on Egan Drive. The first light you come to after leaving the downtown area (after the 10th street/Douglas Bridge), will be where you turn. Turn left onto Channel Drive and follow the curve of the road until it runs parallel with Egan drive. Macaulay Salmon Hatchery is the big, red roofed, grey building on the right side of the road. Visitor parking is on the right when you pull into the parking area.
From the Airport or Ferry Terminal: Once on Egan Drive (also called Glacier Highway), the main highway in Juneau, head south towards downtown. After passing the light for Vanderbilt Drive, watch for the small, brown fish sign on the right side of the highway and merge into the right hand turning lane that will appear shortly after the sign. At the light for Hospital/Channel Drive, turn right onto Channel Drive, and follow the road all the way down until you see the hatchery (a big red-roofed, grey building) on the right side of the road. Visitor parking is to the right when you pull into the parking area.
Accessibility:
The Visitor Center is a wheelchair accessible facility with wide ramp ways, accessible restrooms and ADA parking.
